The Bioloid's processing power is a CM-5 MCU, an Atmel Atmega128 based controller. A sensor module and four serially controlled servos are included, as well as the Bioloid software and easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions. This is a kit and requires assembly and programming. The programming is done using the Bioloid's intuitive graphical interface. There are two programs for development with the Bioloid: the Motion Control Editor generates motion sequences that are built frame by frame, similar to a story board in an animation sequence. The Behavior Control Program is used to create a sequence of events, through a series of commands that control all functionality of the sensors, the servos and the microcontroller.
It is also possible to program the microcontroller using the C programming language. Many freeware C compilers and editors are available for download, and this is a great option for more experienced programmers, or for when you are ready for the next challenge with your Bioloid Beginner robot kit.
