The Arduino Motor Shield is an add on board that enables the Arduino to control 12V DC motors. It is a full-featured shield that can power many simple to medium-complexity projects. The kit is complete with all components and 1 motor shield PCB to mount on.

Shields are boards that can be plugged on top of the Arduino PCB extending its capabilities. Your are encouraged to produce your own. The different shields must follow the same philosophy: easy to mount and cheap to produce. The Arduino Motor Shield plugs onto the top of your Arduino Duemilanove, allowing it to drive the motors.
This is a PCB board for a circuit that enables DC electric motors to be run forwards or backwards. The Arduino Motor Shield uses H-Bridges to run up to two motors. The Kit includes the PCB and all parts to build the shield.

- Get Your Project Moving!
The Arduino Motor Shield Kit is a great kit for a full-featured motor board; power up and control your servos, bi-directional DC motors, and stepper motors. Whether you are building an Arduino robot or any other gadget that moves, runs or spins this shield will bring your project to life.
Features
- 2 connections for 5V 'hobby' servos with high-resolution dedicated timer - no jitter!
- L293D chipset provides 0.6A per bridge (1.2A peak) with thermal shutdown protection and internal kickback protection diodes.
- Controller can run motors on 4.5VDC to 36VDC.

Controls up to 2 bi-directional DC motors with individual 8-bit speed selection.- Controls up to 2 stepper motors (unipolar or bipolar) with single coil, double coil or interleaved stepping; pull down resistors keep motors disabled during power-up.
- Big terminal block connectors to easily hook up wires (10-22AWG) and power.
- 2-pin terminal block and jumper to connect external power, for separate logic/motor supplies.
- Just download the easy-to-use Arduino software library, check out the examples and you're ready to go!
The components are through hole for easy soldering, making this a a nice beginners kit.
